Combos for summer: get in cool, keep an eye on the battery

A car parked in the sun heats up quickly. Combos can keep an eye on the cabin while parked, cool it down quickly when you get in or take care of the seat ventilation. The summer combos in the collection differ mainly in when and how long they run.

Cooling while parked

Four combos look after the parked car. They're in the conflict group “Cooling while parked”, because several of them would run in parallel and waste energy:

5508 0048 checks the cabin temperature every 10 minutes and runs maximum cooling for 15 minutes from 30 °C.
0994 0006 checks at several fixed times around midday and only cools if needed – handy if the car is parked in the same place on workdays.
5612 0048 doesn't use the A/C and ventilates with fresh air only at fan level 10 until 27 °C is reached; it runs for up to about 6 hours.
5565 0047 switches the seat ventilation to level 3 at a threshold and sends you a phone notification.

Cooling while parked uses energy from the battery. Choose a combo whose times and thresholds match your routine instead of cooling all the time.

Cool down quickly when you get in

If you don't want to cool the car while parked, you can help it along when you get in: 3369 0011 starts rapid cooling when the cabin is at 35 °C or more. 0999 0056 cools quickly and switches on the seat ventilation as soon as you leave a particular place – originally the gym. It uses a location condition, which you change to your own place.

8155 0044 takes care of air distribution: after you get in it opens all air vents, including the footwell and windscreen. It comes from a G6 – test it on the G9.

Climate automation for the whole year

5863 0042 and 6497 0007 control the cabin temperature, seat heating and seat ventilation by outside temperature – in winter and summer alike. They're in the same conflict group as the winter combos; more in the guide “Combos for autumn and winter: get in warm, see clearly”.

After you get out

To stop seat ventilation or massage from running on empty seats, 0728 0030 switches off seat heating, ventilation and massage as soon as a seat is vacated; 2607 0051 does the same with a 30-second delay. Use only one of the two.

What to watch out for in the heat

Only one combo from “Cooling while parked” – several cost twice the energy.
Check the thresholds: 30 °C, 35 °C or 27 °C don't suit every location.
A cooling combo never replaces supervision. Don't leave children or animals alone in the car and don't rely on combos.
