Charging with combos: end of charge, charge port and range

Around charging there are many small tasks that combos can take over: getting you back to the car in time, opening the charge port, ending charging when you get in or reminding you about low range. Here are the charging combos in the collection at a glance.

Back in time: notifications before charging ends

At public chargers you want to be back at the car in time. Four combos send you a phone notification for this – they only differ in how much notice they give:

4917 0035 and 1402 0014 notify you about 5 minutes before the end, 3779 0044 at 10 and 3003 0014 at 15 minutes. They're in the same conflict group – use only one, otherwise you'll get duplicate messages. The longer your walk back to the car, the more notice you need.

Charge port at home

7549 0044 opens the charge port automatically when you get out at home – handy if you almost always plug in straight away, but the port also opens when you don't want to charge. 8940 0031 only opens it if the remaining range is below a set value; it needs XOS 5.9.5.8906. Both use a location condition – more in the guide “Location conditions: combos for home, garage and on the road”.

Stopping charging via a door

Three combos stop charging when a door is opened, so you can unplug the cable without opening the app first:

With door combos, check whether they're tied to a location. Otherwise charging stops wherever you open that door – including at a public charger when you just grab something from the car.

Reminders when range is low

5568 0023 reminds you to charge when the range drops below 100 km – by email and with an announcement when you get out. 8725 0025 makes an announcement while driving when the remaining range in D drops to 100–150 km. Here too: only one of the two, otherwise you'll be reminded twice.

Sentry while charging

0552 0014 switches Sentry on as soon as charging starts. Sentry uses energy, and camera recordings may be legally restricted depending on where you are (EDPB Guidelines 3/2019) – more in the guide “Saving battery: which combos cost energy – and which save it”.
